Spanish Language Exchange

At IES Barcelona we have applied the concept of SpeedNetworking to the traditional language exchange or, as it is called in Spain, "Intercambio". The result is an excellent way to meet many local people in a short space of time.

Speedy Language Exchange

The Speedy Language Exchange is a great way to meet a lot of local people, practice Spanish, share experiences and learn from and about others, all in about an hour. You will only have a few minutes to talk to each person in the room, so make sure you prepare a good pitch (in Spanish) and get ready to network!

Intercambio

Following the initial SpeedNetworking Language Exchange students can establish an ongoing Intercambio with one of the Spanish attendees of the event. These regular, informal meetings are a popular way to improve your spoken language skills through informal meetings with a local resident, who is also keen to improve their English. Each time you meet, half the time is spent talking in English and half the time talking in Spanish (or even Catalan!)

Apart from the obvious advantage of rapidly improving conversation skills, language exchanges are an opportunity to get to know someone new, and find out about the city and culture in which they live.
