Area Studies in Spanish
Learning a Language through Use
Area studies courses taught in Spanish provide the IES student with a contextualized and meaningful learning situation.
We encourage the integration of particular content with language teaching aims.
Both academic subject matter and second language skills are taught and learnt. In this way natural language acquisition occurs. Natural language is
difficult to learn when it is divorced from meaning, therefore students can best learn a second language when the emphasis is on relevant, meaningful content.
