Healthcare

If you plan on studying abroad you should read the following information carefully. Most of the points stated are simply common sense but it is extremely important that you take good note of them.

IES Barcelona has contact with a large number of English speaking physicians as well as a list of hospitals. If a student needs to see a doctor he/she should contact the Student Services Department or call the emergency phone and we will make an appointment or, if necessary, take the student to the hospital. Barcelona has an excellent network of private and public hospitals and well-known specialists.

IES requires all students to be adequately covered by international student health insurance.

If you are regularly taking any medicine or prescription you should organize it with your physician before coming here. We recommend that you make certain that it is available in Spain. If it is not, you will need to bring with you the necessary amount to last until the end of your stay. Notice that IES Barcelona strongly suggests not to mail medicines or vitamins as they could be held up in customs.
