Incomparable study options
IES Barcelona is the only program open to all students regardless of their level of Spanish. The program is divided into 4 language based “tracks”: Beginner, Intermediate I, Intermediate II and Advanced. Your track determines your course options, and gives you a warm sense of community.

Our four local partner universities - Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat de Pompeu Fabra, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and Universitat Ramón Llull - offer the perfect opportunity to experience life in a Spanish university.
IES for quality education
Quality teaching at IES in Spanish or English in over 40 Area Studies disciplines. IES faculty strives for continuous pedagogic excellence by attending training workshops, seminars and participating in peer observations. Recent topics have included Learner Outcomes & Assessment ensuring a student-centered learning environment.
Internships
Boost your resumé by taking a service learning, business or teaching internship. Invaluable in our globalized world, placements are available in a wide range of disciplines.

Honors Program
Open to all students with GPA 3.5 and above. The Honors Program is the perfect opportunity for students looking to develop research skills in their chosen field.
Field Studies
Incorporating the local context into your studies is a fundamental component of your classes. All IES courses have scheduled field studies using Barcelona and its region as your classroom.
Study Tours
A unique cultural and academic experience are the faculty-lead academic Study Tours. These optional trips, associated with a selection of IES courses, take place during the semester break. This trip of a lifetime can take you on the ancient Pilgrim route of the ‘Camino de Santiago’ or to experience the rich heritage of Morocco
