Facilities and Orientation

Hola! I’m Xavier, one of the IES Barcelona staff members. I deal with the administration of the Institute more than with academic stuff, but I’m also here to help you find your way at IES and in Barcelona.

When I was just fourteen I participated in a school exchange program in Hamburg. Living in that different environment, eating strange food and not understanding a single word from my host family made me aware that there was something else out there to be discovered!! Since then I’ve visited many countries in Europe and America, learned four foreign languages and —as my mother says— I’ve even made friends in hell!!

After graduating in Business at UPF and working in the Export-Import field for a few years I decided to orient my professional future towards working in the university environment.

I have strange interests like statistics or graphic design, but my main hobbies are travelling, socialising and going out with my friends. Other interests are sports, scuba diving and walking around my city.

I’ve also been an abroad student just like you; I participated in several programs in Germany, England and Sweden. I really believe in the importance of these experiences and that’s why I recommend that you enjoy and make the most of your time in Barcelona. Hasta pronto!
