The passage of the various people instrumental in its growth has left the city with a dictinct personality, and a large and well-preserved historical center. A city for walkingSeville is there to enjoy it, wandering around the city to see the old, white and albero buildings and the thousand people who walk by the city. The capital of Andalusia distils joy and atmosphere in each street, with some districts of deep popular flavour, like Triana and Macarena. Walking next to the Cathedral, a sign reminds us that this environment is described in the novels of Cervantes. It is the eternal Seville, shown on monuments and in the urban environment. Just sit and rest in one of those terraces the river Guadalquivir, watching La Giralda and seing how the stones of Torre de Oro stone become yellow, as the night starts to descend. ![]() ClimateThe climate of Seville in Mediterranean, with oceanic influences. The annual average temperature is 18.6 degrees C (65 degrees F), which makes this city one of the warmest in Europe. That makes winter a good time to visit the place, as temperatures are mild. The saying goes: "En Sevilla no se come, se tapea". Seville is a gastronomic center, with a cuisine based on the products of the surrounding provinces. The tapas scene is one of the main cultural attractions of the city: people go from one bar to another enjoying small dishes calles tapas (literally "lids" or "covers" in Spanish, referring to their origin as snacks served in small plates used to cover drinks). Local specialities include fried and grilles seafood, Andalusian ham (Jamón ibérico) and gazpacho, amongst many others. |
